• First Baptist Church, Malakoff will host the Henderson County Black History Committee “We Love our Youth” at 3 p.m. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Fredrick V. Moss, of Allen Chapel AME Church. Participants are asked to bring a can food item to help the food pantries in Athens and Malakoff.

• Knights of Columbus, Mary Queen of Heaven Council will host an all-you-can-eat fish fry with all the fixings in the Mary Queen of Heaven Parish Hall from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event will benefit scholarship funds and local charities. Cost is $7 per adult, $5 for children from seven to 12 and free for children under six. Tickets may be purchased from a Knight at the door.

• Trinity Valley Community College, on 100 Cardinal Drive, and the Combined Community Effort Committee will host the Celebration of Gospel 2010 at 4 p.m. Admission is free but a love offering will be accepted. • Lake Athens Baptist Church provides a unique opportunity for children to learn to sign and play bells each Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. This special time is available for children ages four through sixth grade.

• Every Tuesday is a special day at South Place Nursing Home. Ladies from Lake Athens Baptist Church treat the residents to manicures.
• West Place Nursing Home has a birthday party for all residents who have a birthday during the month, on the third Thursday of each month at 3 p.m. Lake Athens Baptist Church is pleased to play host to the party and would like to invite all who are interested in making a difference in the lives of our senior citizens to participate.
• Hope Community Church of Murchison holds a Backyard Bible Club the first Sunday of each month at the Murchison Baseball Field at 4 p.m. This free event includes games, food, puppets and skits.
• Christian Women's Ministry of the First Christian Church, on 900 Robbins Road, meets the first Wednesday of each month at 11:45 a.m. in the fellowship hall.
