• Gun Barrel City Assembly No 369 International Order of the Rainbow for Girls will host a chili cook-off at Cedar Creek Masonic Lodge, on 402 Legendary Lane, in GBC, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Attendees are asked to contribute a $5 donation for adults and $3 donation for children 12 and under. • St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, on 2101 East College Street, will host a breakfast forum at 9 a.m. Pancakes, sausage and fruit will be served. Candidates running in the March 2 primary will be in attendance.
• Henderson County Girls Softball Association will hold sign ups at Cain Park from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
• Cedar Creek Rebels 12U baseball team will hold tryouts for the Spring/Summer season at the Optomist Fields in Seven Points from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Players must not be over the age of 12 as of April 30. • The Texas Gospel Music Hall, on 6513 State Highway 19 south, will feature No Turning Back and The Bluefield Express in concert at 6 p.m. Tickets are $12.50 each and can be purchased by calling 903-677-2492. The will also be sold at the door.

• The Henderson County Art Society will meet in the lower level of the East Texas Arboretum and Botanical Society at 10:30 a.m. Maureen Killaby will be doing an oil still life demonstration. Wednesday, Feb. 10
• The Henderson County Board of Realtors will hold its awards banquet at Jalapeno Tree, in Gun Barrel City from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
• The Henderson County Retired School Personnel will meet at Athens First United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. The program will be The Disciples Clinic, a medical office in Athens staffed with volunteers to serve those who have no medical insurance and who meet screening guidelines. Any updates from the Texas Retired Teachers Association will be discussed during the business session. All retired school employees are invited to attend.
• The Democratic Women of Henderson County will meet at Tillo’s Restaurant and Bakery, on 607 East Tyler Street, at 1 p.m. The program will be presented by Eldress Mary Henderson in honor of Black History Month. She will be speaking on “Ways the Church is meeting the Needs of Today’s Youth.”

• The Star Harbor Bridge Club will sponsor a fundraiser for the Star Harbor Building Fund at Mary Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, on County Road 3062, at 10 a.m. Doors will open to serve coffee at 9 a.m. The $20 fee will include lunch and the chance to win prizes. • The Henderson County Senior Citizens will sponsor a dance at the Senior Citizens Building, on State Highway 31 east, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Country music will be provided by the Hwy 31 Band.

• The Henderson County Democratic meeting will be held at the Headquarters on the Square, on 100 East Corsicana Street at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will include a brief County Executive Committee meeting, a training for the Precinct Conventions and a regular monthly meeting.
