Athens Police have arrested a 21-year-old man, and charged him with sexual assault.
David Figueroa was arrested about 1:15 p.m., Friday by Athens Police Department Det. Adam Parkins.
A 21-year-old female was allegedly on a date with Figueroa. Police say Figueroa allegedly forcibly restrained the woman in a car, and then sexually-assaulted her near the picnic tables on the east side of the Cain Center park.
Figueroa was still being processed at press time Friday evening, but an officer in the jail said Figueroa is an Athens resident.
He was expected to be arraigned later Friday night.
The crime was allegedly committed just before midnight, Wednesday, and reported by the victim to police at about 12:30 a.m.
