A Henderson County Sheriff’s Office narcotics search warrant yielded two arrests in Cherokee Shores Thursday, police reports said.
Russell Dean Fair, 30, was booked into the Henderson County Jail for possession of a controlled substance and possession of a prohibited weapon.
Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Randy Daniel set bond on Fair, totaling $12,000. He remained in custody on Monday.
Also arrested at the scene was Ashley Watkins, 20, of Mabank for outstanding misdemeanor warrants.
HCSO reports said narcotics officers Kay Langford and Wick Gabbard received enough information to have probable cause for a search of Fair’s residence. Gabbard presented a probable cause affidavit to Henderson County Justice of the Peace Milton Adams. Adams reviewed the information, and issued a search warrant for the residence.
HCSO reports said the HCSO Tactical Team, along with Maj. Botie Hillhouse, Capt. Bryan Tower, narcotics officers and investigators executed the warrant. They found Fair at the residence in possession of methamphetamine, and a short-barreled 12-gauge shotgun.
The Texas Penal Code states that a short-barreled shotgun is one that is less than 18 inches in length. The offense is a third-degree felony.
