Humbug! Santa decoration stolen

Santa and one of his elves located in Ginger’s Park on the west side of the Henderson County Courthouse square were having the hap-hap-happiest Christmas ever until some grinch came along and stole his white gift wrapped in gold ribbon.

The thievery sank the Christmas spirit of volunteers who put the decorations up and were preparing to take them down for the season by this Saturday.

“We really want it back,” Keep Athens Beautiful Executive Director Carol Morton said.

Several other decorations also were taken, Morton said.

The thief, or thieves, can take their name off the naughty list by simply returning the gift where it was found by Saturday. Morton said the decorations can be returned with no questions asked.
