Athens Police arrested three people Monday night in connection to the vandalizing of a car at a local apartment complex.
Robert M. Taylor, 17, Lehua Deann Mauala, 22, and Jessica Nicole Calloway, 22, were each booked into the Henderson County Jail for criminal mischief ($500-$1,500). Taylor was also held on a warrant for possession of a controlled substance. The suspects had not been arraigned as of Monday afternoon.
APD dispatch received a call at 11:48 p.m. from a person reporting a possible burglary of a vehicle in progress. Officer James Graham arrived at a residence on Gibson Road where he talked to the owner of the vehicle and a witness. APD reports state the rearview windows were broken off a 2003 Mitsubishi Gallant. In addition, all the air was let out of the vehicle’s tires.
The witness told Graham that a vehicle had just driven away heading west toward Mill Run Road.
Graham located the vehicle at Parson’s Parkway and signaled for the driver to stop. The three suspects were then taken into custody. Corporal Roger Keith assisted in the arrest.
According to the Texas Penal Code, a person commits criminal mischief by intentionally or knowingly damaging or destroying the tangible property of the owner. Criminal mischief ($500-$1,500) is a Class A misdemeanor.
