Motorcycle recklessness provides auto theft lead

From Staff Reports

The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a wild motorcycle ride that led to the recovery of a stolen car in Payne Springs Sunday night.

Julia Dodd, 39, was booked into the Henderson County Jail for possession of methamphetamine (less than one ounce).

She was released early Monday after posting $5,000 bond. HCSO has not yet determined what charges might develop from the discovery of the stolen vehicle.

According to an HCSO report, at about 10:15 p.m., dispatch received a call reporting a reckless motorcycle driver in Payne Springs. Deputy Kyle Pochobradsky soon located the motorcycle, and followed it to a residence on Peaceful Woods Road, where the driver pulled off the pavement, and came to a stop.

At the residence, reports show that Pochobradsky saw Dodd attempting to remove something from a Lexus parked on the property.

The Deputy approached, and asked Dodd who the vehicle belonged to. Dodd told Pochobradsky she didn’t know who the owner was.

Pochobradsky contacted dispatch, and asked them to check the vehicle’s registration.

Dispatch ran the registration number, and found that the Lexus had been reported to the Winnsboro Police Department as stolen.

HCSO Sergeant Mitch Baker arrived to assist Pochobradsky as they conducted a search of the vehicle, which revealed a small amount of methamphetamine.

Drug Enforcement Unit Investigator David Faught was notified, and responded to the scene along with Major Kevin Hanes and Lt. Botie Hillhouse.

The officers recovered the stolen car, and transported Dodd to jail for arraignment.
