Sheriff’s office discovers meth lab, seeks suspects

Henderson County Sheriff’s Office Investigators arrested one man and are seeking additional suspects in connection with a meth lab discovered near Payne Springs Friday.

Kelly Gene Landwermeyer, 42, of Eustace was booked into the Henderson County Jail on a first degree felony charge of manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance (4 to 200 grams). He remained in custody Monday with bond set at $50,000.

HCSO reports said Investigator Kaylon Rollins became aware of possible drug activity in the Leisureland subdivision. Rollins discovered that Landwermeyer and other unidentified individuals were at an unoccupied residence on Shady Shores Drive. Rollins inspected the location and found several components of what appeared to be a drug lab. Further investigation uncovered about 200 grams of methamphetamine as well as materials used to make the drug. Investigators Darryl Waller and David Faught were called to the scene to assist in analyzing and processing the chemicals found at the residence.

Landwermeyer was arrested at the scene, while HCSO patrol deputies, Fire Marshal’s office personnel and police officers from Log Cabin and Eustace attempted to locate suspects who fled from the residence. Authorities were unable to locate the subjects and are continuing to investigate the incident. He had just been released from the county jail Aug. 1 after being arrested on a minor drug charge.
