As the leaves change, Athenians will add their own decorations to the city.
Keep Athens Beautiful has begun its annual Fall into Athens decorating contest.
“We are asking businesses in the community to decorate the front of their businesses,” KAB Executive Director Carol Morton said.
She said the contest — which has been held for six or seven years — aims to bring the fall spirit into the community and enjoy the season. KAB volunteers will decorate the Henderson County Courthouse lawn on Oct. 13. Morton said the businesses should have decorations completed by Oct. 15.
The contest will have four categories: children’s theme; best use of a pumpkin; most traditional theme; and most original theme.
She said to enter the contest, call the KAB office and let officials know what theme you will be decorating. Morton said a winner will be chosen from each category.
Morton said the entries will be judged on Oct. 17.
“We usually have about 15 to judge,” she said. “Especially the folks on the square.”
Winners will be announced with pictures in the Athens Daily Review. For more information call the KAB office at 903-675-7961.
