Mike Modano and Willa Ford getting hitched in Athens

The rumors have been confirmed. The Dallas Stars said that Mike Modano and Willa Ford will be married in a small wedding right here in Athens. The nuptials are to occur on Saturday, Aug. 25. After many phone calls, the Athens Review has not been able to confirm a location for the wedding, but there is some speculation about a couple of Athens sites.

The Stars would not comment on the location of the ceremony. They would only confirm that the wedding was taking place in Athens.

Ford, 25, most recently appeared on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars, but is also a singer and actress. Modano, 36, is the center for the Dallas Stars and is from Minnesota. Ford is from Florida leaving many to wonder why they would choose Athens, Texas to marry.

The couple met at an event for Modano’s charitable foundation.

Cain Center is

alive and well

The Cain Center in Athens is wanting people to know that they are open for business and have plenty to offer.

The Henderson County YMCA is closing their office located in the Cain Center. Marsha Colbert said that the Cain Center will be taking over all of the YMCA activities.

“We have plenty of activities going on,” Colbert said. “We don’t want anyone to think we are closing. We are alive and well.”
