HCSO arrests area residents on theft charges

From Staff Reports

The Henderson County Sheriff’s Department arrested five people Monday, in connection with multiple thefts in the Cedar Creek Lake area.

The arrests enabled HCSO deputies to recover about $20,000 worth of stolen items.

Henderson County Sheriff Ray Nutt said two adult and three juvenile males were arrested for the thefts.

HCSO has not released the names of the adults due to the ongoing investigation.

According to HCSO reports, dispatch received several calls Monday morning from the Cherokee Shores subdivision in Payne Springs concerning stolen jet skis. Deputy Josh Rickman investigated the reports and found the missing jet skis in a cove just off the Cedar Creek Lake Shore.

As Rickman was conducting his investigation, HCSO received a report that three young males were pushing a 4-wheeler down a street in Cherokee Shores. Patrol Deputies Billy Jack Valentine and Sergeant Mitch Baker responded to the report and located the three suspects and found they were in possession of the jet ski as well as a stolen go-kart.

Investigator Kaylon Rollins determined that the suspects were involved in the unauthorized use of several personal water crafts that had been reported earlier that morning and obtained information concerning a burglary of a Cherokee Shores residence. Rollins also learned the names of two additional suspects. Deputies located those suspects and recovered stolen property reported missing from the burglary.

The full account of recovered property included: two ATV’s, one go-kart, six jet skis and several smaller items taken in the residential burglary.
