Friends of the Library to hold book sale

Special to the Review

The Friends of the Clint W. Murchison Library located at 121 S. Prairieville in Athens will have its annual book sale June 4-6.

The library is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday – Friday and Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Clean out your bookshelves and take your old books to the library for the sale then return and restock your reading material. Books make good gifts for family members, friends and shut-ins.

There is already a large selection of material to choose from, but the more donations, the better the selections. Children’s book are always a favorite, cookbooks, how-to-books, paperback and hardback books, fiction and non-fiction, reference books, quilting books, sports books, along with CDs, books on tape, plus others. Magazines are another popular item.

“Children are made readers from the laps of their parents.” Emilie Buchwald.

The only resource the library has to buy books comes from the money collected for late fines, the use of the copier, donations and memorials. The proceeds from the Friends book sale go to the library to purchase new books and equipment plus paying for the weekly children’s hour and the summer reading program.

Take advantage of the sale prices and at the same time be a part of keeping the library a first class facility for all the citizens of Henderson County.
