HCSD arrests man for manufacturing drugs

Deputies stopped Reno near Seven Points and found methamphetamine in a glass container in the bed of his truck

From Staff Reports

Deputies patrolling near Seven Points arrested a man for manufacture of methamphetamine Wednesday, Henderson County Sheriff’s Department reports stated.

Calvin Wayne Reno, 40, was booked into the Henderson County Jail on charges of manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance (200-400 grams), expired vehicle registration and failure to provide financial responsibility. Reno was awaiting arraignment Wednesday afternoon.

The arrest came at a traffic stop initiated by Deputies John Daniels and Mitchum Patterson on County Road 4400, also known as County Line Road, northwest of Seven Points.

According to reports, the department was working extra patrols in the area in response to citizen complaints of drug trafficking there.

At about 1:30 p.m, Daniels and Patterson initiated a traffic stop on a blue 1988 Ford pickup for an expired registration sticker. At the stop, reports stated, Reno was not able to provide proof of financial responsibility for the vehicle.

Reno gave deputies permission to search the pickup for illegal narcotics.

Deputies found a quart-sized glass container, wrapped inside a wet t-shirt in the bed of the truck. Inside the container was a clear milky substance that gave the odor of anhydrous ammonia.

Henderson County Drug Task Investigators Darrell Waller and Kenny Collard arrived at the vehicle and assisted in testing the substance, which was confirmed to be methamphetamine.
