Brownsboro man pleads guilty to child porn charges

Special to the Review

TYLER — A Brownsboro man awaits sentencing after entering a guilty plea Friday to child pornography charges in the Eastern District of Texas Court.

United States Attorney Rebecca A. Gregory said 43-year-old Doyle Randall Paroline was charged with possession of material involving the sexual exploitation of minors. Paroline faces up to 10 years in federal prison. A sentencing date has not been set, Gregory said.

According to information presented in court, a federal search warrant was executed July 11, 2008, at Paroline’s Brownsboro residence. During the search a personal computer was seized by law enforcement officers. A forensic examination of the computer revealed visual depictions of children engaged in sexually explicit conduct. Paroline admitted to possessing more than 150 images of child pornography and agreed to forfeit two personal computers.

Paroline, making his first court appearance before U.S. Magistrate John Love, waived his right to a grand jury hearing.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by United States Attorneys Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.

This case is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Longview Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Baldwin is the lead prosecutor in the case.
