BREAKING NEWS: Wreck at intersection injures two
Emergency officials, including Athens Police and Athens firefighters and paramedics, assist a woman from a Jeep Laredo following a wreck at the intersection of East Corsicana and Crestway streets Tuesday. According to Athens Police Patrolman Ron McCurry, Deisi Padron, 52, of Athens was traveling eastbound on Corsicana Street when she attempted a left turn onto Crestway. She was struck by a westbound Ford F150 driven by Bobby Tarrant, 53, of Larue. Both drivers, the lone occupants in each vehicle, were taken to the hospital by ambulance. The westbound lane of Corsicana Street at the intersection was temporarily blocked as authorities worked to clear the street.

AEDC board approves two performance agreements
The Athens Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors approved two performance agreements on Thursday.
The proposed agreements with Abby Development and the Athens Jet Center are very similar, said AEDC President/CEO Brian Malone.
He said the agreement with Abby Development provides a maximum incentive of $75,000 for infrastructure. - Local historic treasure recovered
