One hurt in Monday crash

An Athens Police officer is one of many that investigated a collision between a delivery truck and an 18-wheeler near the intersection of State Highway 31 and Loop 7 early Monday. One person, Tommy Davis, 65, was transported to East Texas Medical Center where he remained Monday with incapacitating injuries. He was driving a 1999 Chevrolet catering truck along State Highway 31, and was cited for disregarding a stop-and-go signal. The trucker, James Moreland of Bigalow, Ark. was not injured. Moreland said he was hauling 11,700 pounds of screen doors to Georgia for Transco Lines, Inc. when the incident occurred. Athens Police Cpl. Jason Bosher was the investigating officer.
