Woman punched in face over library book

CROSSVILLE, Tenn. — A disagreement between two children over a library book ended with one mother punching another mother in the face, police in this small Tennessee town said.

It happened Saturday afternoon at the Art Circle Library, according to Officer Jason Wilson. The victim was visiting the library with her son when she saw a young girl take a book from a stack that her son had gathered to check out, police said.

The woman asked the girl to put the book back, explaining that she and her son were checking the books out to take home.

The girl's mother apparently witnessed the incident, and complained that the victim needed to apologize to her daughter, which the victim said she did, according to Wilson's report.

The victim checked out the books and was leaving the library when the mother of the girl drove up in a brown Chevrolet pickup truck and started yelling.

The woman then exited the pickup truck and followed the victim before punching her several times in the face. The victim called 911, and the attacker ran away. As of Monday, police were still searching for her.
