COMMUNITY IN MOTION: Firefighters respond to possible house fire

Athens firefighters, along with Athens Police, responded to a house fire call at 806 Edna Street Tuesday morning. The house did not appear to suffer any major structural damage, although firefighters were using a pump to vacate smoke from inside the residence.

Athens Fire Chief John McQueary said no one was home when the fire started. The cause of the fire hadn't been determined, but McQueary said firefighters found a burner on inside the kitchen when they arrived.
