ETGS to feature speaker Robyn Conley

Athens — The East Texas Genealogical Society will hold its regular monthly meeting on Saturday, Feb. 13, at 2 p.m. in the Taylor Auditorium at the Tyler Public Library,  201 S. College St., Tyler.

The featured speaker will be Robyn Conley, writer, lecturer, and freelance editor.  The title of her lecture will be “Writing Your Life Story.”

Conley has taught the mechanics of writing and publishing, as well as tips for chronicling our life story, and using writing as a healing therapy at Texas Christian University, the University of Texas, Arlington, and hundreds of individual seminars around the country.

She is also a well-respected and sought after freelance editor, known by her clients as “the Book Doctor.”

Her program will give tips for easy-to-do writing steps that will help one leave a lasting and permanent legacy about their life.

Readers are encouraged to bring paper and pen, and come give her simple suggestions a try.

She has written and published numerous books including “Beyond the Branches: Writing and Scrapping Your Complete Family Tree.”

Her books will be on display before and after the meeting, and she will be available for questions.

About 30 minutes following the conclusion of the regular program and refreshments, the Computer Interest Group of the East Texas Genealogical Society will meet, and Conley will present, “How to Research and Sort Family History Through Email and into an Organized Filing System.”

ETGS meetings are free and open to the public.
