Police: No harmful materials in letter at bakery

CORSICANA — The white powder scare at the Collin Street Bakery Thursday is officially being investigated as a hoax, thanks to further testing by the feds.

“Additional testing of the white powder by the U.S. Postal Inspector’s Lab showed no signs of harmful materials,” said Corsicana Police Chief Randy Bratton Friday afternoon. “The investigation will remain with the Corsicana Police Department and investigated as a hoax.”

The letter containing white powder came in one of the bakery’s pre-printed mail order envelopes. It also contained a note, but police are not saying what it stated except to say that it wasn’t addressed to anyone in particular. It was sent anonymously.
