Restaurant workers hog-tie accused robber
NORMAN, Okla. — The manager of the Asian Buffet was counting money in the register Wednesday night when police say a would-be robber showed up wearing a mask and wielding a gun.
The Asian Buffet's staff had no intention of offering take-out.
The manager grabbed the man's mask and blocked his escape before at least a half-dozen workers joined a scrum, police said. The workers locked the door then hog-tied the man with shoelaces.
Much of the struggle was captured by a security camera. A video of the conflict ends when the restaurant staff carries a person out the door of the restaurant head first.
Police, called to the buffet shortly after 10 p.m., said they arrived to find Eric Arthur Zimmerman, 29, tied at the ankles with shoelaces. He is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
Employees told police the man fired a single round in the scuffle, but no one was hurt.
