SAN ANTONIO (AP) — The 25 homes that are evacuated near a landslide in a San Antonio neighborhood will remain vacant at least 10 days while engineers monitor for more shifting soil.
Pulte Homes Inc. spokeswoman Valerie Dolenga said Tuesday about half the residents within a block of the soil collapse on the city’s northwest side could return if engineers determine movement has stopped.
The other homes, including those precariously perched on a hill that gave way Sunday, will be vacant longer.
While the builder’s engineers are still investigating, San Antonio officials say the slide was the result of improper construction of a towering retaining wall that is now splitting. The builder had no city permit for the wall.
