GLOUCESTER, Mass. — A rare albino lobster has been caught in this oldest of American fishing ports.

Lobsterman Mike Tupper trapped the 2 1/2-pound white crustacean four days ago, and it quickly became a celebrity, appearing on local cable television shows.

Bill Murphy, senior biologist at the New England Aquarium in Boston, described it as a 1 in 100 million catch.

Lobsters, scavengers that prowl the ocean floor, are usually reddish brown.
