Man dies in wreck near Poynor

A 58-year-old man died Saturday afternoon in a one-vehicle crash near the Henderson-Anderson county line.

The deceased was identified as Joe Michael Jones of Frankston. Jones was a mechanic and lived a short distance from where the fatal wreck occurred.

Department of Public Safety Trooper Brad Fulton reported that Jones was driving a 1991 Nissan Pickup eastbound on County Road 4325, when the vehicle veered to the left and crossed the westbound lane. The Nissan exited the two-lane road on the north side and struck a tree with its front center. There were no skid marks visible near the wreck to indicate that Jones had hit his brakes. Family members told DPS that Jones had been experiencing medical problems

The time of the wreck was 4:13 p.m. Weather conditions were partly cloudy and dry and were not seen as a contributing factor to the wreck.

Precinct 6 Justice of the Peace Milton Adams pronounced Jones dead at the scene, and ordered the body transported to the Dallas Medical Examiner’s Office by Autry Funeral Home in Frankston.
