The Athens High School Band recently competed in UIL Concert and Sightreading competition. The high school varsity band, under the direction of Rusty Lay, was awarded 1st division ratings in both concert and sight reading competition. The high school band had previously received 1st division ratings for marching band in October of this school year. With the band receiving 1st division ratings in marching, concert, and sight reading, the UIL awarded the band the Sweepstakes band award. This is the seventh consecutive year that the high school band has received this award.
