Downs State Record Buck.jpg

A.J. Downs of Conroe (center) recently went public with the official Pope and Young score on his magnificent non-typical whitetail taken on Sept. 29 in San Jacinto County. The 28 pointer, which grosses 263 1/8 and nets 253 3/8, now ranks as the largest free ranging non-typical buck ever taken by a bow hunter in the state of Texas. Pictured with Downs are his daughter, Karis, and his brother, Quentin.
