Nine members of the Athens Math and Science team competed at the Fairfield UIL practice meet on Saturday, Feb. 2. The Calculator team of Derek Davies, Sunil Prajapati and Caleb Phillips won first place, outdistancing second place Rusk by more than 100 points. Individually Monica Julian won sixth place, Caleb took fourth, Sunil second and Derek won the gold. In the General Math event, the team of Derek, Sunil, and Monica also won first place. Derek and Sunil were first and second respectively individually. Derek also won a fourth-place medal in Number Sense and a first-place medal in Science. The Number Sense team of Derek, Sunil, and David Reeder finished second in the team competition. Pictured from left is Sunil Prajapati, Monica Julian, Derek Davies, David Reeder and Caleb Phillips.
